Lawn Fawn Pengiun Santa for The Rubber Buggy

Hi everyone!

If you're a follower of mine you'll recognise the inspiration for this card :)
I had a Christmas tree of presents envisioned, but it ended up just being a large pile. How ever I grow really fond of that pile and I thought I would be able to build a fun scene.

The Santa penguin is unloading the sweet reindeer and throwing the presents in a big pile.
The pile is made by a lot of masking and again, I thought it would be to busy if the pile would have to compete with the Bokeh background. So I kept it white and simple by just coloring the ribbon and then adding wink of Stella clear glitter to the entire pile. To top it of I also added a flatback pearl in coordinating color to every gift. The sentiment is also a new favorite of mine, where I combine two stamp set Toboggan together and Sweet Christmas.

Lawn Fawn winter scene for The Rubber Buggy

Hi everyone!

I'm here with a cute winter scene from Lawn Fawn.

I'm loving how easy this one came together and I had a blast making it. I wanted to use my stitched hillside border dies and make a snow scene, so I just cut several out from white cardstock. I also wanted to have my little penguins in a snowball fight so I colored a couple of them at once, some with santa hat and some without to have a selection to choose from.

Making those preparations really made the assembly line go speedy. As I started to lay out my scene I realised I was missing trees. I used the tree die from Toboggan together as well as sweet Christmas and cut it from bokeh paper. I then edged the sides with Lawn Fawn ink and let me tell you how happy I am with the new mini applicator :D

To top it all of I added another piece of Bokeh paper as the sky and viola!

I hope you like it!

Lawn Fawn Christmas gift tree for The Rubber Buggy

Hi everyone!

For this card I had a vision of Christmas tree shape, but after a lot of masking it ended up being just a big pile of presents. But I think I made it work anyway - LOL!

As my background is kind of bold, I didn't want to have the presents compete with such a busy pattern. So I left them white and only colored the ribbons. I also added a flat back pearl in a coordinating color. (Did you know, if you don't have the correct color, you can alter it with your copics) I also went over the entire pile with my clear wink of stella. Be careful though, the wink of stella marker may lift some of the color depending on what ink and pens you have used. However, just clean the tip on a scrap paper and you're good to go again. The glitter really made the pile pop against the background. I placed the pile on top of a stitched hillside border and the little penguin in santa hat covers the part that would make the entire hill look a bit loopsided. The sentiment from the Toboggan together stamp set would have been to long to fit and I wanted to keep the banner thin, so I used my Sweet Christmas stamp set and used the word "Christmas".

I hope you like it!

2015 December daily update 7

Hi everyone!

What a day!
I was trying to work some on my December daily and it's a good thing I started in August, let me tell you - LOL!

First as soon as I sat down, my baby woke up way to early from his nap and it took quite some effort to put him back to sleep. So right there our entire day went down the drain LOL!

My next attempt was brutally interupted by a long call from my sister, who is past her due date and bored out of her mind just waiting for the water to burst. But at the same time to scared to leave the house in case the water actually would burst - as you could imagine it would if you actually would be fine waiting a little bit more...

In the midst of everything I forgot to turn off the camera, so don't you think the battery died - which of course I didn't noticed.

So I appologize for the crappy video, but I thought I'd show it to you anyway and I hope to have a better update soon.

share handmade kindness week 4

Hi everyone!

I'm participating in Jennifer McGuire's challenge to share handmade kindness.

SHK Badge to Share

The first week it was for family and friends and I made a Father's day card for my husband. The second week was to do something for someone who serves in your community and I made a card of appreciation to our wonderful pediatric nurse. For the third week we were creating for children and I made cards for Emily and her sister Evelyn.

This week we're encouraged to do something kind for strangers we don't know. But Jennifer was kind to allow contributions for her card shower (read more HERE) this week as well. So I thought I'd share the cards I made for Xander and his brother Jaden this week.

I need to add boy stuff to my supplies, I have a lot of baby boy and boy colors. But no funny monsters, sport or outdoors stamp set for example. So another excuse to go shopping - yay!

Anyway, to my rescue was an old kit from Scraptastic - I discovered I was pregnant recently after I had subscribed and just as the first kit arrived, so did the sickness. It turned out I would be one of those who got Hyperemesis gravidarum, which is why I don't say morning sickness - it's more of a all-day-and-night-sickness. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'd love to hear from you!

Back to my story, as I had three kits still in their unopened boxes (which should tell you how sick I was, I mean come on - we live for happy mail, right!) I had to unsubscribe. But I remembered there was a sport paper in one of the kits, I'm still hoarding them and have been reluctant to use them. But as Xander was a fan of both baseball and football I thought this was the perfect occasion to use them, especially since we don't have those sports in Sweden and I've been asking myself when to use them.

I'd say this paper (Echo park, that's my boy, you rock) was made for Xander, it's really happy and I love the color combo, so I added some orange cardstock to mat the pattern paper, also from the kit and die cut the word "Smile", using a retired Greeting farm die set. But do you see what I did? The sentiment called for another "S" at the end of the word, so I diecut the word twice and added the second "S" upside down - pretty cool, huh :D
The "sending" and "happy thoughts" are from an old retired MFT stamp set "All smiles". The stars and ambersand in soft granite (Hero arts) is from a stamp set called Mini elements.

For Jaden, Xander's older brother, I wanted to make a cool card and as he was interested in airplane I thought this paper (Echo park, that's my boy, game plan) from the samt kit would fit. Although I get that I don't know what kind of airplanes he's into. But I hope he like it. I matted it with black cardstock from my stash and added a MFT trio die in the same colors. The red oval is from G45 pattern and solids paper. The "DUDE" and the larger airplane is from Echo park's sticker sheet from the same collection, which was also included in the kit - how lucky am I, LOL! The rest of the sentiment "to a cool" is from Lawn Fawn stamp set Toboggan together.

This card came together superfast, but together with Xander's card this was my favorites of the bunch I sent. It was great fun making boy cards and like I said I must go shopping for more supplies :)

I also made Christmas cards for Emily's and Xander's parents, using a technique shown by Jennifer called stamping with water. See her youtube tutorial HERE.

I used Distress ink Pine neddles and chipped saphire and then I had the brilliant idea to use my Lindy's stamp gang's sprays. I probably have like 30 bottles that I haven't used for years. I loved having all those colors to spray flowers with, but then I just stopped for some reason. I'm probably to impatient to wait for the flowers to dry and it all became to much fuss, which means I also have a ton of WOC and IAR flowers in the closet as well.

I've been thinking about selling the flowers, but the spray bottles are so old, some of them don't smell to good and some are clogged shut. But I don't have the heart to throw them away... Especially since it is my own fault for hoarding them in the first place... I sense I have a hoarding problem...

But this was perfect so I used a Magnolia background stamp, silent night and sprayed it with LSG silent night silver and it gave the perfect subtle background. I loved Jennifer's design of her cards, but I didn't dare to copy it step by step - I'm not sure if it's allowed... So I did a border by adding some Christmas silver trim to the bottom and layer that with a silver cardstock that I dryembossed. For the sentiment I used another Magnolia stamp, A merry Christmas text, which is heat embossed in silver. For the rest of the sentiment I just wrote by hand with a white pen on black cardstock. I then added some flat back pearls in blue and green to finish the cards.

I had a blast making all those cards for Emily's and Xander's family and honestly I'm most happy that I got to use so many fun stuff from my stash. So they really made me a favor - LOL!

I'm really working on using my stash, since I don't have the space and I'm really feeling overwhelmed rather then inspired when I go through all old stuff that I once thought was to precious to use - anybody out there with the same problem?

I'm super happy and excited to have been able to participate throughout the entire month!

Thank you so much for visiting and hats off to you if you managed to read the entire post :)
Leave me a comment and maybe I'll send you something as a thank you.

Sweet Christmas shaker card for The Rubber Buggy

Hi everyone!

I'm here with a fun shaker card. Shaker cards are really in demand right now, but this is my first try ever. Many use sequins and The Rubber Buggy has just started to carry some great choices HERE.

However, I haven't really rolled in to that trend either yet. I do own a couple, but for this card I thought I get good use of some really old glass beads from back in the days when I was trying to make some jewellry - as a teenager!!! I didn't get much done, so I have tons and tons of these tiny little beads in several colors, but I don't have the heart to throw them away. And what a good thing, because they went so well as shaker elements! A few really goes a long way here, but they really add some noise plus they are heavy enough to push the rest around.

I also filled my shaker pocket with some faux snow and as that stuff is airlight, the beads really makes it move. I also added some elements from the stamp set I used. I copic colored some peppermints and candy canes and added them to the mix. They are glue together, so they have a front and back, just in case they would turn over - however unlikely...

Scrap our stash November stash challenge

Hi everyone!

I'm here with a scrapbook layout inspired by SOS November stash Challenge.
The idea was to use an item represented by each letter in the word Albums.

Oh, my where to start...?

I actually had to cheat and see what the DT used for their A & U. I couldn't even come up with arrows - LOL!

But here it goes...

A - Alphas letters, Amy Tangerin by American crafts
L - Lace
B - Blue ribbon, baby boy, Becky Higgins' project life 3x4 cards
U - Uniball signo pen (the white "stitching" on the PL card at the bottom)
M - Ministaples (they are a bit hard to see, as they hold the large border at the top, they are also by metal)
S - Starred paper

Share handmade kindness week 3

Hi everyone!

I'm participating in Jennifer McGuire's challenge to share handmade kindness.

SHK Badge to Share
The first week it was for family and friends and I made a Father's day card for my husband. The second week was to do something for someone who serves in your community and I made a card of appreciation to our wonderful pediatric nurse.

For this third week we're focusing on children and even though I have a number of kids in my inner circle who would love a handmade card. Jennifer gave me an opportunity to do something that's been on my mind for a while - to participate in a card shower for kids battling cancer. This cause is very special for me. When I was younger I cut my hair, which was hip long, to a pixie and donated the hair in order to make wigs for children with cancer. So as a card maker, I've always wanted to participate, but never finding the time. Now as a mother, I thought to myself I just better make time.

You can read more about the Jennifer's card shower and she also has more information about Emily and Xander HERE.

Emily has a younger sister and they both love pink, so I thought I make two similar cards in pink (and hints of purple) which is not my strong side. But I'm pretty pleased with the result.

My vision was an enchanted forest, so I went with pink trees and sparkle using Snow day stamp set by Lawn Fawn.
Nicole Mcguirke, also a huge inspiration for me, is a master of creating beautiful scenes, you can find a video that inspired this card HERE.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9CbUH9BM2A

I also thought, here I have two girls who loves pink and I have acumulated quite s stash with pink and purple supplies for just an occasion like this, since I'm not a pink and purple girl myself. So I went digging and found these flatback pearls from a mix pack I bought long ago, before the discovery of sequins. They were a perfect match too, so a shaker card it is - LOL!
I also found some pink confetti stars, why on earth did I get those I have no idea? The box was still sealed to it must have been faith. The trees and the bunnies have been touched by some clear wink of stella, adding magical sparkle and I've also used the stiched hillside borders to create my slopes.

I did have a fenomenal time making these cards and I've never had so much fun using pink and purple. I even think these would make cute Christmas cards, even though I a blue and silver girl myself. The sentiments are from a MFT stamp set - All smiles and on the inside it reads "YOU ARE pretty amazing" and "YOU MAKE every day a happy one" also a MFT stamp set. Both were Free with $60 stamp sets years and years ago.

Thank you for visiting!

These cards are also entered in Lawnscaping challenges #118 In with the old (MFT stamps, my flatback pearls and star confetti as shaker elements, also I dusted off an old bright raspberry pink Versa color pigment ink too)

For the 14th of Dec I made the 4x6 card off record. I used a tag from the Snow day collection and it actually said "To a perfect pair". But I traced the "To" with a white gel pen and stamped "we are" in soot ink by Lawn Fawn using the Milo ABC stamp set. What to you think?

Share handmade kindness week 2

Hi everyone!

I'm participating in Jennifer McGuire's challenge to share handmade kindness.
Last week it was for family and friends. I made a card for my husband as we celebrated Father's day here in Sweden.

SHK Badge to Share

This week we are meant to think bigger - community.
So I was fortunate to be able to pick up this box of prescored cards by WRMK with the Mariposa paper. Yes, this was years ago. But the papers and colors are so beautiful I have been hoarding these like crazy. But this was a good time to bring them out. since they are prescored I just needed to add small touches. So I took out some scrap pieces and made a cluster of banners and added some bling. There are also a cluster of banners on the inside to mimic the front, but I forgot to take pictures of that.

So I had a number of people in mind for this card, but as I had a check up appointment with ped (is that the word? Our nurse for children) we gave it to her. We have a specific nurse appointed since he was a newborn and we love her! We also gave her a Christmas card last year and will do so this year as well.

Other people in mind were the some of the girls that take care of my husbands grandfather. He always speaks of "his girls" and how well they look after him. Although, mind you, he looks after himself quite well in order to be 93 years of age - LOL! But they help him with some cleaning and shopping. We've been meaning for years to give him a set of handmade cards to give them as a token of appreciation and this is just the kick I needed.
I'm so excited to see what next's weeks challenge is.

Thank you very much for visiting!

Share handmade kindness

Hi everyone!

I'm participating in Jennifer McGuire's challenge to share handmade kindness and this week it's for family and friends. Read more about her challenge HERE.

SHK Badge to Share

I made a handmade card for my husband or rather from our son to his father.

I my real challenge however was to make a masculine looking card - LOL!

The paper is from an old Bo Bunny collection, Welcome home. I also have a couple of strips of Prima Engraver paper.

The cog wheels are chipboard that I sprayed with LSG dark chocolate truffle and Van Dyke Sephia. I also added a bit of Tattered Angels Plain Jane in Brown and Slate Glimmer mist. But it really gives a metallic look.

The sentiment is from from an old MFT stamp set sentimental about fathers.

I hope you like it.

Wild rose studio snow men for The Rubber Buggy

Hi everyone!

I'm here with another fun Christmas card showcasing a Wild rose studio stamp.

These little guys are simply adorable! And they are so easy to color, love when there is just a little shadowing to be done - LOL!

I fussy cut most of them, but also used the stitched hillside borders to create the scene. At the bottom I also used a stamp from the same set as the sentiment to add a little border to the bottom.

Merry Graphic 45

Hi everyone!

I'm here with a Christmas card using Graphic 45 as my DT-project for The Rubber Buggy :)
Mainly the old Place in time collection, but you'll see I've used a non-Christmas collection of course - LOL!

My inspiration for this card was the Santa in sleigh piece from their chipboard. I really loved the dark blue sky with the red Santa and green tree. So I added a dark blue mat behind everything and that's my non-Christmas item. I used a blue from French Country collection. Love my new system where I organise everything according to color rather then by collection. I'm so using up my older stash this way.

The pionsettias have been colored with glitter mist and you can find great selections from both Prima and Blue Fern Studio in the store.

Have you seen the gorgeous Venice lace that Kellie has been filling the store with?
Just imagine what wonderful creations you can make with those :)

Thank you for visiting!

Christmas card for The Rubber Buggy

Hi everyone!

I had a blast making this card.
I will probably semi mass produce this one later.

I must admit, now that I've tried it. I will actually reverse the process - LOL!
For this card I started with putting the sentiment together, in order to make it fit. I did consider to simply cut it apart with my scissors. But in the end I masked it, one word at the time. Then the hard part started... where I discovered it would be suitable to start with the image instead. My idea was to have the little cute penguin skate on the sentiment, thus I needed to have the right angle and the right amount of white space in order to be able to draw skates on his little feet... Hard enough, but I also wanted to mask him for his little santa hat and to me the hat was needed to be stamped first... Oh, my!

So, next time I'll do it in this order :)
Stamp the santa hat, then the penguin, draw skates, stamp the sentiment. Decide the card size :)
Cut the paper, color with copic markers and hope for the best - LOL!
