Layered 10minutes-card

I have followed graphic 45's blog daily, since they started to show the new collection "Birdsong". As I have roots in Asia, what could be more perfect? As it happends, I also just returned from a journey of 4 weeks in Asia. So you see why I need to get my hands on those papers - LOL!

Anyhow, that's how I got the notice of the 10-minutes challenge for July. The challenge, I suppose, is to create a card in 10minutes - which truly is a challange for me. Normally, I take a day to  put a card together. Perhaps it's because I have all my stash both high and low? I don't have a scraproom (yet - LOL!), so my storage is sort of placed here and there all over the apartment. I have a very understanding and patient fiancé! Now I'm getting off track...

In short, I decided quite early that I was to use layers, everyone who has seen Arlene's card with Graphic 45, knows how layers can give a strong effect quickly. She makes it looks so effortless! As I don't have any graphic 45 papers with contrasting colours...

I do have an... lets say "vintage" lady - LOL! She is practically my nana, we're very close and I been thinking lately that the communique papers would be fun to make a card for her. She's basicly from that time era.

However, it turned out that there is nowhere to find that collection anymore. This is so typically me, since I don't have a specific genre, but rather go by mood swings. I tend to be the last person in the scrapbooking world who jumps on the latest trend - it's actually the same in fashion... Now, what to do? Fortunally, for me, I bought the kraft reflections paper pad recently, thinking if I wouldn't use it perhaps I could use it as kraft stock that everyone is talking about. A product I have never seen, is it different from card stock?
Oh dear, now I'm getting side tracked again. My point, the kraft reflections also have some vintage ladys. But there are no strong colours, as I wanted for the layered effect. So I turn to Tim Holtz, the master of adding colours with a vintage touch. I have the distress inks in black soot, brushed corduroy and aged mahogney.

This card was so much fun making, as it needed to be completed in a short amount of time. I spent several days planning everything. So I use layers and tim holtz distress inks.
Once I try the colours out I realise that I have a pack of IAR cherry blossoms that will fit nicely. The S3-310 mix of classic colours. As I retrieve two of the cherry blossoms from the top of my closet, I also find a mix of roses in the same brown tone R2-310.  Add some prima say it in pearls brown and some lace from graphic 45 stapels trim. Now we must be good to go?

So... To the card... (If you've read all my rambling thoughts above, hat's of to you!)
1. I cut one of the papers from the paper pad to use as my base and scored it in the middle. (The card is 5,5 x 6, let's say it was meant to be and not a misstake from my part)
2. I cut 2 sheets of black cardstock to act as a contrasting layer. Both on the front and inside the card.
3. Repeat step 2, but with graphic 45 paper. ATG together.
4.Cut out some ladys and the stripe of accessories of the Feminine heart paper.
5. Layer the ladys on black card stock.
6. Hot glue the lace, hot glue = instant drying time
7. Add the rest of the layers
8. Hot glue the flowers and add bits of prima.

The tag is from TH "Tiny Tabs & Tags" This is what I made when I tried my colours out. The stamps is from TH papillon and mini ornates. It literally took just a minute to make.

I'm so pleased with the result and I believe my cards will come together faster from now on. I just need to overcome my overthinking habits.

I will also enter this card to simon says stamp vintage challange, as I need $50 to spend when the "Bird song" collection arrives - LOL!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog - it means a great deal to me!!
